Monument record ADB 065 - Probable Post-Medieval field boundaries to the north of Brick Kiln Cottage.

Centred on TM46065837, a curvilinear bank of unknown date, but probably medieval to post-medieval, is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork on land to the north of Brick Kiln cottage, Aldeburgh. In total the bank is nearly 150m long, running from circa TM46025832 to TM46035845 and is on average 3-5m in width. The bank does not correspond with any boundaries visible on the 1st or 2nd edition Ordnance Survey maps of 1884 and 1904. However, it does cross a current boundary which can be traced back to the old maps, suggesting that the bank at least predates 1884. There is a second smaller earthwork in this area, centred on TM46015835, which may be associated with the larger bank, but as it is very closely aligned to the current field boundary, it may be part of an early phase of the current land division.
