Monument record ADB 101 - Post Medieval path or track.

A series of paths or trackways is visible as a series of low banks on aerial photographs, located at circa TM45525797. The banks are orientated north-west to south-east and delineate a path or track approximately 6-8m wide across Aldeburgh golf course, from circa TM45655791 to TM45285829. They are incomplete, appearing to be flattened or eroded in certain areas. The banks closely match the route of a series of tracks mapped on the first edition Ordnance survey map of 1884, this land then labelled as Hazlewood Common and The Warren, the boundary between the two areas being unclear (S1). The tracks are annotated 'C.T.' which possibly stands for 'Cart Track', which may account for their apparent width. By 1904 the area is known as South Warren golf course, and a club house has been built at circa TM44815780, but these paths area no longer among those mapped (S2). The partial destruction of the banks may have been as a result of the construction of the golf course. The banks form part of the same network of paths as those recorded as ADB 037. The features may continue as a cropmark in the field immediately to the north on photographs of 1955. (S3, S4).
