Full Description

A probable weapons pit is visible on aerial photographs as an earthwork located on the seafront at Aldeburgh, centred on circa TM46525642. The pit is circular with a circumference of about 2m and probably housed a machine gun for anti-aircraft fire. This weapons pit is one small component of the anti-invasion beach defences that were in place along the Suffolk coastline during the Second World War. For further coastal defences in the area see ADB 154 and ARG 051. (S1, S2).
