Monument record ADB 133 - A World War II length of barbed wire and weapons pit.

A length of barbed wire and a probable weapons pit of World War II date are visible on aerial photographs at circa TM46355599. The barbed wire runs for about 100m from circa TM46315606 to TM46355599. Up to October 1941 this barbed wire acted in tandem with another stretch immediately to the west (see ADB 135) (S1). After October and by December 1941 it effectively acting as a plug for a gap between two areas of newly built anti-tank ditch (see ADB 131) (S2). The weapons pit is visible as a circular feature circa 2m in diameter. Located at TM46355599, it appears to be positioned to control movement through this potentially vulnerable area and possibly to provide additional protection for the coastal battery immediately to the east (see ADB 138). The Barbed wire has been removed by October 1945. (S1, S2)
