Full Description

A boat hard is visible as a structure on aerial photographs at Slaughden quay, centred on circa TM46305533. The hard is not marked on the first or second edition Ordnance Survey maps of circa 1884 and 1904, suggesting a modern date for its construction. It is visible on aerial photographs from 1941 to 1945 (S1, S2). The storms of 1953 appear to have overwhelmed Slaughden, destroying or obscuring most of the quay, and this hard does not appear to have been reinstated after this date (S3).
