Full Description

A probable barbed wire obstruction is visible at Slaughden on aerial photographs from 1945, located at circa TM46355528 (S1). It is circa 50m in length, and crosses the narrowest gap at Slaughden between the River Alde and the sea, from circa TM46325528 to circa TM46375528. A stretch of barbed wire in this location would effectively prevent north-south movement along the beach, and would have been part of the anti-invasion coastal defences in this area.
