Monument record ADB 158 - World War II anti-tank cubes to the south-east of Aldeburgh.

World War II anti-tank cubes are visible to the south-east of Aldeburgh, centred on circa TM46425578, on Aerial photographs from 1940 onwards (S1). From circa TM46475598, just to the south of the anti-aircraft battery recorded as ADB 138, the row of cubes extends along the sea-front for circa 385m to circa TM46425561, where it turns to the west and continues atop a sea bank (see ADB 142) for roughly a further 260m, terminating with a small dogleg into the riverine saltmarsh at circa TM46195565. The photographs from 1940 show the cubes still under construction, but they can be clearly seen on photographs from 1943 (S2). The cubes are still in-situ in October 1945, but the defensive line has been dismantled by 1952 and the cubes appear to be amassed awaiting removal (S3, S4).

Slaughden, Aldeburgh. Irregular line of anti-tank cubes running from Westrow Reach in the SW to Fort Green in the NE. A short spur approx. 50 metres long crosses the beach S of Fort Green TM 46415587 - TM 46465586 (S5).

Fort Green, Aldeburgh. Numerous concrete cubes that have almost certainly been moved as some are in rows against each other (with no gaps) and others line the sides of a short pathway to the beach. A lot of the cubes in the central row are in their original position (S6).
