Full Description
Stretches of possible Medieval or Post Medieval parish boundary can be seen as cropmarks of ditches on aerial photographs, running from TM 26253660 to TM 26583643 to the south of Alston Hall on the boundary between Trimley St Martin and Trimley St Mary parishes. The linear feature is visible in two stretches, one 200m in length running from TM 26253660 to TM 26423650 and the other 110m in length running from TM 26493650 to TM 26583643. (S1) (S2) The features are in the same position as the current parish boundary shown on the base map and as the historic parish boundary, shown on the 1st Edition 25" Ordnance Survey map of circa 1884. This suggests that the features could be of Medieval or Post Medieval date although the origins of the boundary could be even earlier. (S3)
