Full Description

Probable Post Medieval field boundaries are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 2001, centred on TM 23533665 to the east of Charity Farm in Shotley parish. The linear ditches are arranged roughly in a cross shape, dividing the modern field into quarters. The field boundaries could easily fit into the modern field pattern supporting the idea that they are Post Medieval field boundaries that have been removed. (S1) (S2) The boundaries are not shown on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition 25" map of circa 1884, and therefore must be earlier than this date. (S3)
See SLY 125 for undated trackway and boundaries in the same field.
