Full Description

Field boundaries of unknown date are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs, centred on TM 24083631, in fields to the north of Church End, Shotley. Three of the linear ditches run parallel to each other on a south-west north-east alignment, roughly 40m and 60m apart, whilst the other boundary runs at 90 degrees to the first three, suggesting that the boundaries may have formed part of a rectilinear field system.
