Full Description
A sea bank of probable Post-Medieval date can be seen on aerial photographs from 1943 onwards, centred on circa TM43295712 on the northern bank of the river Alde. It is approximately 2.5km in length and runs eastwards from circa TM43405764 to circa TM44895690, where it almost meets a further length of sea bank (recorded as ADB 142). Aproximately 1400m of the sea bank is within Aldeburgh parish with the remainder lying within Friston parish. The bank is depicted on the Ordnance Survey maps of 1837 and 1884, and was probably constructed in the early 19th century. (S1-S3)
