Full Description
A section of sea wall in Friston parish is visible as an earthwork bank on aerial photographs from 1943 onwards, centred on circa TM42935789 (S1). The sea wall extends for about 650m from circa TM42485778 to approximately TM43005801, the westernmost 250m partially surrounding a group of probable oyster pits (see FRS 021). The bank appears to be marked on Ordnance Survey mapss from the 1837 1st edition map onwards, suggesting a Post-Medieval date for its construction (S2). It can be clearly seen on photographs from 1972 (S3)
