Full Description

A possible Post Medieval trackway is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1944, centred on TM 23393978 in the field to the south-west of Whitehouse Farm, Levington. The trackway consists of two parallel ditches, roughly 6m apart, running in a south-westerly direction from the northern edge of the field. The ditches diverge at TM 23393978, one continuing southwards to the south-east corner of the field and one turning through 90 degrees and running westwards towards the western edge of the field. It is possible that the features represent a former access road to the farm, probably of Post Medieval date. This interpretation is supported by the well-defined appearance of the ditches and the fact that one runs to the corner of the modern field where there appears to be a gate. (S1)
