Full Description

A World War II military site is visible as structures and earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1944, centred on TM24354021 to the south-west of Mill Plantation, Levington. The site consists of a curvilinear stretch of barbed wire obstruction which encloses an area of grassland close to the main road. Just outside the barbed wire enclosure a nissen hut and a short stretch of anti-glider ditch are visible. To the south of the road some patches of disturbed ground are visible and these may be related to military activity. It is possible that the site may be related to the operation of the bombing decoy located at TM 238411 about 1km to the north-west of this site. (S1) (S2)
