Full Description

A Medieval trackway is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs running across fields to the north of Home Farm, Levington from TM 23324033 to TM23703997. The trackway is visible as a number of parallel curvilinear ditches and probable areas of compacted surface which appear to bear no relation to the layout of the modern landscape. (S1) (S2) (S3) An archaeological evaluation undertaken by the Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service in 1997 suggested that "The medieval features almost certainly represent field boundaries with the three gently curving ditches marking the line of a trackway." (S4) See LVT 036 for the Medieval finds from the evaluation and LVT 030 for the rest of the cropmark complex. (S5)
