Full Description

A probable Post-Medieval causeway is visible on aerial photographs of Sudbourne, centred on circa TM44725401. The causeway is visible on photographs of 1943 as an earthwork (S1). The raised earthwork causeway is on average about 6m wide and is flanked on either side by A ditch roughly 2-4m wide. The visible extent of the feature is approximately 600m in length, the north west end of the feature being visible at circa TM44605428, just to the east of Ferry Farm, the south east end at TM44835376. The feature appears to have been partially ploughed away by 1955, and is only visible as a soilmark by 1972 (S2, S3).
