Full Description
A possible Post Medieval causeway across Sudbourne Marshes is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs from 1943 onwards, centred on circa TM44745323 (S1). The causeway is approximately 240m in length and 4 to 5m wide. The causeway is visible on 1945 photography, but by 1952 appears to have been levelled and is visible as a soilmark (S2, S3). The route of the causeway is marked on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1884, suggesting that the causeway is at least Post Medieval in date (S4).
