Full Description

A length of probable World War II barbed wire obstruction is visible as a structure on aerial photographs taken in 1944, centred on TM 20403706 to the south of Chelmondiston village. The linear feature is around 320m in length and runs around the edge of a field to the south of a row of houses. The feature cuts off one corner of the field, is not marked as a boundary on late 19th century maps and has been removed by 1946 suggesting that the feature is part of the World War II village defences.
