Full Description
Possible gardens features in the grounds of the Old Rectory, Orford, are visible as earthworks and possible cropmarks on aerial photographs of the 1970s, centred on circa TM42245009. A possible terrace is visible as a rectangular earthwork circa 25 x 15m under the lawn to the east of the Old rectory at circa TM42235010. The prior location of a tree ring may be marked by a circular earthwork or possible cropmark at circa TM42245007. This might be the result of the removal of a tree ring that may be visible in this location on aerial photographs of 1945. However, due to the poor quality of the prints it is not possible to be sure. It is probable that any formal garden features in this location would be of Post Medieval date. (S1, S2)
