Full Description

Two possible temporary military structures of World War II date are visible on aerial photographs to the south-west of Orford, centred on circa TM41604948. The structures appear to be tents roughly 6 x 11m in size. They are first visible on aerial photographs of September 1945, and are still visible in October of that year. There are a number of groups of such tents in the area that resemble the tents of Sudbourne 'battle school' located in and around the grounds of Sudbourne Hall, with which they may be associated which are (see SUE 063). They may be intended to resemble haystacks as part of a camouflage strategy (see ORF 097, ORF 099).
