Monument record BOY 044 - Temporary World War II structures.

A number of temporary structures of World War II date are visible on aerial photographs arrayed in groups along a field boundary to the west of Boyton Hall Farm, centred on circa TM37724634. The features are first visible on aerial photographs of September 1945. Although it is not possible to determine their function from the aerial photographs alone, similarities in form to other sites in the area suggests that the camps performed specific functions, possibly related to the Armoured Fighting Vehicle range to the east (see BOY 024). Alternatively, taking into consideration the time of year, the features may simply be hay ricks but at this time the possibility of disguised military features cannot be discounted.
