Full Description
A field boundary of probable Post Medieval date is visible on aerial photographs of 1945 onwards as a cropmark centred on circa TM38565265, Chillesford parish (S1-2). The boundary is marked on both the first and second edition Ordnance Survey maps, and is visible on aerial photographs of 1943 as an upstanding hegde. The hedge has been removed by September 1945, leaving a rectangular cropmark. Although this feature abuts a neighbouring boundary on many aerial photographs and is quite obviously aligned to it, this neighbouring boundary has now also been removed. Therefore, this cropmark might now be seen in isolation, and to eliminate any possible confusion with archaeological features of similar form, has been recorded.
