Full Description

A sea wall of probable Post Medieval and possible partial Medieval origins can be seen as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1943 onwards, centred on circa TM39524975 on the east bank of the Butley River, Gedgrave parish (S1). It runs for just over 2km from the northern edge of The Cliff at circa TM39834881 to circa TM39245067. This length of bank was probably part of the same phase of land reclamation to that which can be seen to the south of The Cliff (GED 039), and therefore dates at least to the Post Medieval period. (S2, S3)
