Full Description

A possible Bronze Age round barrow or Later Prehistoric or Roman hut site is visible as the cropmark of a ring ditch on aerial photographs, centred on TM 21082458 in a field to the north of Shop Corner in Arwarton parish. The ring ditch encloses an area of 17m in diameter and appears to have a gap on its southern side, though it is not clear from the photographs whether this is a true entrance to the ring ditch or merely where the cropmark has not formed properly. The size of the ring ditch suggests it is more likely to represent the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow than a prehistoric or Roman hut site. (S1) (S2) (S3) See ARW 002 and ARW 060 for the surrounding field systems. (S4)
