Full Description

A possible Later Prehistoric or Roman hut site is visible as the cropmark of a ring ditch on aerial photographs, centred on TM 22913485 to the south west of Shotley. The ditch itself is fairly narrow and encloses an area of around 7m in diameter. Another slightly larger ring ditch is visible 20m to the north (ARW 057). The size of the ring ditch suggests that it could represent either the eaves-drip gully or the foundation trench of a Later Prehistoric or Roman hut site. (S1-S4)
