Full Description

A possible Later Prehistoric or Roman hut site is visible as the cropmark of a ring ditch on aerial photographs, centred on TM 22923488 to the south west of Shotley. The ditch encloses an area of around 8m in diameter. Another slightly smaller ring ditch is visible 20m to the south (ARW 056). The size of the ring ditch suggests that it could represent either the eaves-drip gully or the foundation trench of a Later Prehistoric or Roman hut site. (S1-S4)
