Full Description

A flood defence bank of probable Post-Medieval date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, centred on circa TM09733319, Brantham parish (S1). The feature is about 350m long and encloses an area of circa 1.12ha on the northern bank of the River Stour, about 240m west of Cattawade Bridge. The bank is marked on the first and second edition Ordnance Survey map of circa 1882 and 1904, and is therefore probably Post-Medieval in date (S2. S3).
