Full Description

A possible garden feature of probable Post-Medieval date is visible as a parchmark on aerial photographs approximately 90 to the south of Turret House at Brantham court, Brantham parish, centred on circa TM12783422. The feature is visible as a dark circular patch in the grass about 7m in diameter, surrounded by a thin, lighter coloured ring about 10m in diameter. The size and nature of the feature and its location in relation to Turret House and the surrounding garden suggest that the feature belongs to a previous phase of the garden, rather than being an archaeological feature. The darker patch is probably caused by a cut feature, such as a flower bed or fountain, the lighter ring probably marking the location of a hardened surface or wall. (S1, S2)
