Full Description
A probable boat hard of unknown date is visible as an earthwork and possible structures on aerial photographs to the south of The Rough in the inter-tidal zone of the River Stour, Stutton parish, centred on circa TM13883294. The feature is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and 1973 as a low earthwork or area of scour extending from the bank for about 90m (S1, S2). Possible structural features are visible by 1980, probably emerging due to tidal erosion (S3). This feature is not marked on the first or second editions of the Ordnance Survey maps of 1882 and circa 1904 and therefore probably predates them (S4, S5).
