Full Description

Post Medieval seabanks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards, centred on TM 17063445 on the edge of Holbrook Bay to the west of Holbrook Creek. The construction of the seabanks has reclaimed a stretch of land from TM 175348 to TM 164341 and their construction appears to have taken place in several phases. These phases cannot easily be dated from the aerial photographic evidence alone but the banks centred on TM 16903470 and TM 16543421 probably represent the earliest visible phase of reclamation in this area. (S1) The seabanks were constructed before 1882 and are probably Post Medieval in date, though they could potentially have earlier origins (S2). (S3)
