Full Description

A probable Bronze Age barrow is visible on aerial photographs as cropmarks of two concentric ring ditches, centred on TM22964068, about 120 metres to the west of Decoy Wood, in Nacton Parish. The inner ditch is the narrower of the two, possibly less than one metre wide, with a diameter of circa 17 metres. The outer ditch appears to be circa 4 to 5 metres wide with a diamter of roughly 26 metres. Irregular cropmarks over the central area of the ring ditch may support the interpretation of a depression, the inner ditch possibly marking the extent of a central structure. Due to its location close to a current field boundary, the cropmark of the outer ring ditch is slightly truncated on its southern side. It may form part of a group with LVT 015 and LVT 021 to the north. (S1, S2).
