Full Description

A ring ditch of unknown date and function is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of 1976, located less than 40 metres to the south of the large double ditched enclosure KIR 006, at circa TM26484027, in Kirton parish (S1). The ring ditch is approximately 12 metres in diameter and the ditch itself probably less than 1.5 metres wide. The relatively small diameter and width of the ring ditch supports an interpretation as a possible round house of probable Iron Age date, rather than the remains of a barrow (S1).
