Full Description
A D-shaped ditched enclosure of probable late prehistoric date is visible on aerial photographs as cropmarks to the north of Kirton village, centred on circa TM27934042, Kirton parish. The enclosure is approximately 55 metres long and 30 metres wide, on a north-east to south-west axis. A possible annexe, approximately 30 by 15 metres ins size, adjoins the enclosure on its north-western side. A probable entrance can be seen on the south-western corner and a second smaller possible entrance is visible on S1, mid-way along the south-eastern side. The enclosure may be associated with the cropmark complex recorded in KIR 002. (S1-S3)
