Monument record KIR 053 - Series of Prehistoric trackways, field boundaries and a sub-circular enclosure, visible as cropmarks.

A series of ditched trackways, field boundaries and a sub-circular enclosure of probable later prehistoric date circa 30-35 metres in diameter are visible on aerial photographs as cropmarks in Kirton parish, centred on circa TM28104021. At least two phases of landscape division can be seen, demonstrated by the different alignments of the superimposed trackways and possible enclosure or field boundaries at circa TM28064020. It is probable that the trackway is a continuation of that seen in KIR 002. The sub-circular enclosure is recorded separately as KIR 017 but is probably associated with the organisation of the landscape illustrated by the trackways. (S1-S7)
