Full Description

A square, ditch defined enclosure of unknown date is visible on aerial photographs in Trimley St Martin parish, as a cropmark circa 400 metres to the south-west of Croft Farm. The cropmark of the ditch is between 1 and 2.5 metres wide and the area it encloses measures approximately 35 metres across. The enclosure is orientated at approximately 30 degrees from north, and a possible entrance is visible on its south-west facing side. However, the cropmark is indistinct in areas and other entrances or features may be visible along the north-west and south-east facing sides. The date of this enclosure is unknown but as it is on a different alignment to the surrounding field system of probable post-medieval origin, it is probably earlier in date. A later prehistoric date is probable. (S1, S2)
