Full Description

The remains of a possible round barrow of Bronze Age date can be seen as the cropmark of a ring ditch on aerial photographs, centred on circa TM29703662 to the north-west of Hill House Cottages, Felixstowe parish. The ring ditch is circa 1.5 metres wide and 12 metres in diameter. The cropmark bears greater resemblance to two probable barrow ring ditches of different sizes (to the south-west and north-east, see FEX 256-258) than the probable round house cropmarks to the east (FEX 097-098) but could either be the remains of a ditch encircling a round house of Iron Age or Roman date, or a Bronze Age round barrow. The cropmark of a possible cut central feature may indicate the latter. (S1-S2)
