Full Description
A permanent military camp associated with the Second World War airfield at Bungay, one of in this area in this area, is visible on aerial photographs of 1944 as a complex of structures centred on circa TM 318861, approximately 450 metres to the north-east of Flixton Hall, Flixton parish (S1). The precise function of the site is not known but a use as accommodation or suchlike is probable. It was not possible to accurately transcribe the camp in due to the poor clarity of the photograph.
Site of Communal Site no.8 of the Second World War Bungay (Flixton) airfield. The site comprised of Fuel Compound, Officers Quarters, Officers Latrine and ablutions block, Airmen's latrine, Airmen's Barrack Huts, Officers Quarters, Officers & Servants Quarters, Sergeants and Airmen's Ablutions, drying room, sergeants quarters, latrines. Recorded as part of the Eighth in th East Project (S2).
