Full Description
A permanent military camp associated with the Second World War airfield at Bungay, one of in this area in this area, is visible on aerial photographs of 1944 as a complex of structures centred on circa TM 313855, approximately 1 kilometre to the south-east of Flixton Hall, Flixton parish (S1). The precise function of the site is not known but a use as accommodation or suchlike is probable. It was not possible to accurately transcribe the camp in due to the poor clarity of the photograph.
Site of Communal Site No.6 for Bungay (Flixton) Aerodrome. The site comprised Airman's Barrack huts, airmen's latrine, officers, sergeants and airmen's ablutions, picket post, sergeants quarters, sergeants latrine, officers quarters, officers latrine, and a transformer plinth. This site was surveyed as part of The Eighth in the East project (S2).
