Full Description

Possible field boundaries or tofts belonging to a possible shrunken medieval village can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs to the north-east of Manor Farm, Bungay parish, centred approximately on TM342880. The ditches divide small and irregularly shaped fields into smaller cells, possibly tofts, which probably abutted a pre-enclosure road or track marked on Hodskinson's map of 1783 (S1), a section of which may be visible in BUN ???. The possible toft earthworks are overlain by a later post-medieval track, marked on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of circa 1884 (S2). Further earthworks possibly related to the shrunken settlement are visible to the south (see BUN 076-077). (S3, S4)
