Full Description

Possible boundaries, pits and enclosures of unknown date, but potentially including features dating from the Neolithic to the medieval period, are visible as fragmentary cropmarks on aerial photographs of Barsham parish, centred on circa TM 393897. Slightly irregular linear features, possibly field boundaries of medieval or post-medieval date cross the area from NNE-SSW and north-west to south-east. Crossed by the north-western extent of these linears at circa TM 39258977, cropmarks of parallel pits are visible, possibly forming over the post hole remains of a post built structure, potentially Neolithic or early medieval in date. A possible ring ditch with secondary rectilinear enclosures abutting its eastern edge is visible at TM 39288960. The date of this feature is unknown but it may be the remains of a Bronze Age barrow with much later modifications. (S1)
