Full Description

An ditch bounded earthwork bank, probably the remains of a flood defence bank of post-medieval date, is visible on aerial photographs crossing Barsham Marshes at circa TM 391905, approximately 400 metres to the north-west of Barsham Hall, Barsham parish. The earthwork continues southwards for over 350 metres from a bend in the extant flood bank, about 200 metres short of the its current line to the west where it appears to mark the parish boundary. The shape of the relict bank echoes that of the extant bank, and it is possible it marks an earlier parish boundary. (S1, S2)
