Full Description

A pillbox of second World War date, probably a type 22, can be seen as a structure some 180 metres to the east of Boney's Island on Beccles Common, Beccles parish centred on circa TM 433908. The pillbox appears to have been deliberately constructed on a low mound at the eastern end of the causeway recorded as BCC 057, possibly as it provided a slightly elevated view over the surrounding commons and marshes. (S1 - S3)

Beccles Golf Course / Common. Type 22 pillbox, concrete-faced. The exterior structure clearly shows the levels of each pouring of concrete (S4).
