Originally a barn like structure dating to the late-15th or 16th century it was later converted into a pair of domestic tenements in the 17th century.

Historic Building Report of a 20th century red brick barn. Marked as a malthouse on the 1886 OS map. An unusual number of original features have been preserved including a purpose built Tudor kiln.

Excavation identified postholes, cess pits of medieval and late medieval periods and a series of ovens suggesting some industrial activity on the site.
