Timber-framed building survey of Ipswich

17th century timber-framed and plastered building with jettied upper storey on the whole front with exposed timber-framing.

Large flint axe found whilst digging foundations to the rear of 13 & 14 Mill Hill Estate (TM 44321 60926)(S1).

Excavations and building works on the site of the Cock and Pye Inn revealed Saxon and Medieval pottery. A Late Saxon well 27ft (8.2m) deep was also recorded.

1982: C13/C14 bronze pointed oval seal matrix with rear loop on top, found in churchyard of St Martin's Church - see BNH 003. Formerly recorded as BNH MISC

Quernstone found 4ft down in hole dug for soakaway, also much oyster shell.

Building extension revealed pottery, including restored Ipswich ware pitcher.
