Description

The following building shall be added to the list:- TL 7073 MILDENHALL THE CHURCHYARD (west side) 12/10003 No 13 GV II House. Early C19, with possibly earlier core. Painted brick, the end gables rendered. The rear wall is timber-framed and rendered. Welsh slate roof, hipped to right. Tall ridge stack, the original portion of narrow brick, raise twice in gault and common brick. 2 storeys; 2-window range of 2- light casements over 2 6/6 sashes, under segmental brick arches. Doorway to left has shallow- gabled hood with inner moulded stone surround, supported by stone pilasters; C19 4-panel door. Horizontal-sliding sash windows to rear. Interior: possibly re-used heavy ceiling beam in a ground- floor room. 2 early C19 cast-iron grates to first floor fireplaces. Straight-flight stair to rear under catslide roof This house may have formed part of the parish workhouse which abutted it to the left and which was demolished c1897. Included for group value.
