Description

METFIELD HARLESTON ROAD TM 28 SE 2/95 Oak Hill Farmhouse -- II Farmhouse. C16, in 2 phases. Timber framed and plastered; pantiled roof with glazed black tiles to the rear (north) slope. 2 storeys and attic. 3-cell form. 4 windows, various casements, mainly of C18-C19 date. 2 small-paned mid C20 windows to ground floor. Lobby entrance: mid C20 gabled porch with side entrance; within the porch a C19 4-panelled door, the upper panels glazed. Internal axial stack and to the left a later stack set forward of the roof ridge. C18-C19 kitchen and dairy additions are attached to the service end. Good quality framing is visible inside, mainly on the first floor, with evidence for several blocked original windows. The parlour end is earlier, with a wallplate originally some 0.6m lower than the remainder of the house. Listing NGR: TM2882980379
