Description
Monitoring was undertaken along the route of the Fressingfield Water Tower to Battlesea Hill pipeline. Virtually the whole of the route was topsoil stripped to a depth of 200/250mm over a working width of 5-7m. As archaeological features may have been masked by subsoil, monitoring consisted mainly on locating scatters of building material and pottery encountered along the route.
