Description
An archaeological evaluation was carried out as part of a 4.5 hectare extension to the existing Flixton quarry. A total of 27 trenches were opened with a mechanical excavator. Archaeological features were then dug by hand. A metal detector search was undertaken, covering both the upcast spoil and the exposed surface of the trenches. Archaeological features were recorded over the eastern two thirds of the site with little of archaeological interest located elsewhere (S1).
