Description
Monitoring was carried out during the stripping of topsoil associated with the construction of houses. Topsoil and areas of subsoil were removed using a large bulldozer. Exposed features were examined and recorded by sectioning as work progressed. There was a substantial silt layer, probably a buried plough soil, between the topsoil and the natural which was unevenly present across the site and in places not all of this was removed (S1).
