Full Description

Fieldwalking by John Newman for SE Suffolk survey located C13/C14 pottery scatter in `field 401', in area of dark soil circa 60m across. Finds listed consist of 13 body, 1 base & 2 rim sherds Med coarse ware and 1 body sherd stoneware. Also modern material (tile, bone) on site. Close to and ? adjoining two further Med scatters in next field - see BFD 011 & 012. Full details in survey archive (S1).

1992: Lots of building debris and Barnack Stone limestone mortar reported by Peter Holborn from TM 2700 5190 (S2).

2010: Find C19 copper-alloy button bearing arms of Peter Isaac Thelluson, 1st Baron Rendlesham (1761-1808), who was created a baron in 1806. They are impaled with those of his wife, Elizabeth Eleanor Cornwall, daughter of John Cornwall of Hendon, Middlesex, whom he married in 1783 and who died in 1809. A similar find was recorded in Hemley parish (PAS: SF-BB29A0) (S3).
